Events; Full Throttle Autoshow Melaka

Auto Showdown participants. All 3 of them?

Auto Showdown participants. All 3 of them?

As promised, we dropped by the Full Throttle Autoshow which was held in Melaka last weekend (technically its still on till 12am today) and immediately ecnountered terrible traffic out of KL via the Sungai Besi toll all the way to after Nilai Memorial Park. The same heavy crawl was encountered at the Ayer Keroh exit as well, no thanks to so-called Datok Shah Rukh Khan who held a concert somewhere in the city. Anyways, since MITC is located in Ayer Keroh itself, somewhere near Zoo Melaka, the journey there was smooth.

After arriving to find that the show was cordoned off using tarpaulin (which means its a paid show), and finding ample parking spaces in the small carpark opposite the area, and at the hotel, we proceeded to the gates to splash out RM15 per entry. It seemed that the parking lot itself was a huge clue to the event’s attractiveness. Other than the sounds of squealing tires and loud music from the PA system, there was nothing that made this edition of Full Auto to stand out, at least when we were there at four to six PM on Saturday.

SAVOC represent! Quite the potential show-going car.SAVOC represent! Quite the potential show-going car.

There were a couple of booths here and there, mainly by sponsors such as Falken, Marlboro and other local aftermarket tuning companies, but there were hardly any competitors for the Auto Showdown, no girls to look at and no sign of the breakdancers. Even if its four in the afternoon, give us some entertainment! Anyhow, I headed to the drifting arena and the pits, checking out the tire marks those sideways people had laid down.

Eventually, I stopped at the drift podium to catch up with Ariff and Jane as well as Wanbra. Crazy commentating as usual from Wanbra as drifters lit up the track even when it started to rain. Afterall, a wet track equals more excitement and more tire-savings! It seemed that spectators at the show were only interested in the drfting action, leaving most of the booths empty when we got there. Cool moves from all the participants during the practice runs will definitely ensure a great outing today. If it’s possible, we’ll try updating you with the winner’s list soon.

When we returned, the drifters were still doing their thing! Although the track was rather dimly-lit, these guys were still going at it like true pros. Here are some shots on night drifting!!

So that’s all the time we had at the Full Throttle Autoshow in Melaka. While it wasn’t an entirely fruitful trip, relying on the drift event alone makes for a very…….unjustified RM15 entry. Hopefully other autoshows charging entrance fees would learn from this mistake.

Edit = Yeah, I know I promised you guys a post on Sunday night, but due to ISP problems (Izzi, not Streamyx), it appears to be delayed. Apologies to the 70 people who were paitiently waiting for this to come up on Sunday night.

That’s actually an intercooler on the yellow Escort, it seems to be strutting a 4A-GZE(supercharged) instead of a 4A-GE. Oil coolers usually don’t come this huge ;)

Also, the car you labeled as a Carina is actually a Corona from the TT140 series :)

    Hope this helps :D

  2. kev Says:

can’t see no shit from the pictars LOL. were you there? :p

  3. GRexer Says:

Nah… I wasn’t there, in fact, I had left Melaka for a couple of years now, residing in Puchong full time at the moment.

  4. AE80 Says:

Dude, seriously that’s not an oil cooler on that engine. If it was, it would be “oil heater” as the engine would be heating up the oil instead of cooling in. Any smartass would know that oil cooler would be place towards the front bumper for cooler air intake.
Nways, its an intercooler in that Ford Escort. The engine appears to be 4AGZE Supercharged.
Looks like the owner of this webby is “slow bai” as well… LOL

  5. kev Says:

as mentioned by grexer, its a 4AGE-ZE engine. You’re slow too *whistles*
